Discovering My Super Power

This weekend I’m joining friends up in Lone Pine, CA for the 2nd annual Super Hero Kickball championship. Now, they all had a full year to prepare for such an occasion…I have 3 days to figure out what my super power is and create a costume that suits it.
As of yet, I have no idea…I mean, I know I’m super, but my powers are so elusive!
We’ll see how things develop.

Scenes From An Unmade Movie : “Size”
RATED PG-13. The first in a series of short films for Macho Velvet Films. All of the films in this series will mostly be short dialog driven scenes that are character studies in a particular uncomfortable moment of one or two people’s lives.Shot on the RED camera, in 4k, in one evening in San Francisco (5 hour shoot). Edited in 2k on FCP using the proxy files, finished using Magic Bullet for color correction.

Animal Collective – My Girls
Ok, so I’m a new fan of Animal Collective. I don’t know why exactly, but I just never got around to listening. Their new album, “Merriweather Post Pavilion” is FANTASTIC

Department of Eagles @ Troubador

I’m not the type to go see just any band play live anymore. I used to do it all the time, but it began to wear on me after seeing so many bad live acts and paying too much to get in. Tonight I shall put my current favorite musical artist to the test…and I doubt that he will disappoint.
SInce I missed out on Grizzly Bear’s show last year (I know… such an idiot) , this will be my first time seeing Daniel Rossen perform. And, well…he’s an inspiration lately, so I think I’m pretty excited.
Tonight, tonight, tonight!
Department of Eagles, live at the Troubadour. SOLD OUT.
UPDATE:
Here’s a little itsy bitsy portion of my view from the show. This is a new song and I was standing just behind this camera, enjoying every bar of the piece. Sorry it cuts out early, but you get the idea…
We Have To Go Back
Locked Inside a Floating Plank

My mind is racing like a bumble bee today
So many thoughts on so many things and I’m hiccuping inside my eye sockets
Writer’s block, lover’s block, home songs and still clocks…tick/tock
Lingering pedestals and empty pews are aligned in my veins
Old words feeding on my capilaries
I’m collecting secrets to put under the lake-bed rocks that align the front of my home. some hold keys, others hold locks.
Decode these braille dots but don’t mind the mess
Think like a child and paint the rest with your fingers
A mess only for those that are too old to understand how clean it really is
All the lord’s work they take in stride.
A Calm Sense of Freedom

Feeling pretty well lately. Almost as if this year is shaping itself into a pattern of life boats to hold me afloat, for once. No strings attached, though. Only figuratively in some cases. Can’t be too dependent on having the odds weigh on one side over the other. I’ll grow my antlers so they can reach every opportunity in waves of nature’s own crescent bone branch. So many things to be thankful for, so little time to listen for the welcome neon to snap on during this dawn light. watered dry pockets and pigmented canvases can make such wonderful music when they meet the whistling unknown. Make the most of everything they say…
…”One step at a time,” said the fortune cookie.
I was a child when I read that. Look at how it all still makes sense.

DEFIANCE – Now Playing

Please try to see our new film sometime this weekend or soon. It’s a valuable story for everyone to experience.

The Fall – Opening Credits
This is one of my favorite opening scenes in film. Although I feel that the rest of the film does not live up to these first moments, the opening can be looked at by itself as a wonderful spectacle of cinematography and direction. The Fall (2006) was directed by acclaimed commercial/music video artist, Tarsem Singh. He is also credited for being the mastermind behind the beautifully psychotic visual wonder that is The Cell (2000) (yep, that movie with J-Lo and Vince Vaughn)…Another movie that pretty much doesn’t do justice for the visuals that are included, but you get the idea…
Also, if you’ve been reading this site for a while, you’ll notice that this exact musical accompaniment by Beethoven was used in an earlier covered film:
-Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 In A Major, Op.92 (2-Allegretto)-
The Auteurs

I just joined this semi-new beta network designed for cinephiles to meet, greet, and be not so discreet on what they love and hate in film. If you like movies, wanna learn more about the theoretical side, or say you’re in search for some true rare gems in film history – you need to go here. You have to join to check it out, but kinda like vimeo…it’s really quick and easy.
My username on it is Justin Kane.
Come be my friend.
Thanks to Amber for bringing me a new best friend.
Oh yeah, she works there, too.

I’ve known Mike since elementary school. I can vouch for him. He’s always had a great eye for detail and clean images. Check out his site, it’s perdy…
