It’s a Natural Thing
Today’s photography carries a familiar tune. It rings from mid-century counter-culture and is now dubbed, “independent”. You see it in Urban Outfitters catalogues, indie films, music magazines, and of course…all over Flickr
And to be clear, I’m not hating on it, despite it getting carried away as a trend. I happen to love what people are doing with film stock and high-end digitals for this genre of photography. The aura of low contrast and haze paired with a sharp picture. The straight-faced and naturally beautiful models wearing classic designs in front of some lush forest or seaside rocks. It’s organic, natural, and simply better than photos of starving heroin addicts.
We’ve all seen what I’ve described above. Now check out what Daniel Weisser is doing with it in his Diptychs set on Flickr. Separating the foreground and background: so fresh and so clean.
you did well justin. I was getting worried…
